Black Friday

Jack brought me these leggings from Topshop a few months back and I absolutely love them. Admittedly you do have to wear a pair of tights underneath as otherwise you can see your pants (not a good look) but the pattern on them is still noticeable.

I'm also very into my jewellery at the moment. I've been debating whether to get the top of my ears pierced, so I brought this fake cuff ring from River Island to test it out - I think I like it!

Other pieces I've picked up is the cute little choker necklace from Topshop with the word LOVE on it, and also the longer necklace which is from ASOS, I think a choker and a longer necklace work nicely together.

Finally, I've got these shoes from New Look. I know there have been a lot of hype about the shoes like these from Topshop, but these ones were only £11.99 and I thought I would test them out seems as they are likely to turn my feet into huge blisters anyway! I have terribly sensitive skin on my feet and they take AGES to get used to any new pair of shoes, but I still can't resist.

Have you jumped on the choker trend? What do you think?

Slamdunk Festival 2014!

WARNING: Text Heavy Post!!!
Hey Guys! I have a bit of a different post for you today. This weekend I went up to Hertfordshire with Jack, my sister Emma and her fiancée Dan for Slamdunk Festival! For those of you who might not have heard of it, it's basically a one day festival - loads of different stages with all sorts of different bands but mainly on the more rock/alternative side! This year it was held in a couple of places up North and South (which I went to) was on Sunday. By the way excuse the pictures in this post - I was too afraid to take my proper camera to a heavy music festival haha! Easily to say it was one of the best days ever!

For those of you who know who The All American Rejects are, they were the headline band along with Kids In Glass Houses. However I also got a private show with the All American Rejects - can you believe it?! I couldn't! How it happened is the four of us walked over to the AAR Merch stand and found Tyson (the lead singer) stood there writing a note - when he was done we read it and it said 'first 5 people to write your names down get a private show at 4pm' needless to say the four of us quickly wrote our names down and couldn't believe our luck that we were there at just the right time!

We were so excited waiting! We had about an hour and half to wait and when it got to 3:45 we went back to the Merch stand to wait. Us and two other girls showed up and waited together for a bit before we were picked up by someone who took us into the building. We were lead around and then walked into a small classroom (the festival was held at a university) and sure enough, Tyson and Nick were sat inside waiting for us. I couldn't believe it! Tyson offered all of us a Monster and we pulled up some chairs and sat in front of them. We had a quick chat and then they started by playing us an acoustic version of Dirty Little Secret and Tyson got us to sing along with him - it was such a surreal experience! Then he played I For You which is one of my favourites, can't quite believe it happened still! After that we had another chat and got them to sign our Kids In The Street masks, and then we had to leave as they were having an interview and getting ready for their show later on! I felt like such a fan-girl and got a bit shy but it was still amazing!

So, my first festival experience was definitely one to remember!! The rest of the day was amazing as well, I managed to Watch Mallory Knox play, as well as Motion City Soundtrack, We Are the In Crowd and All American Rejects at their actual show. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get to see Kids In Glass Houses perform but they were on at the same time as AAR! I also took a video of my private show with AAR over on my instagram @laurennnhobbs or there is the proper video and interview over on JagerUK's Youtube (link),  if you're interested! Sorry for the text heavy post guys and i'll be back with some fashion posts tomorrow!

NOTD Summer Edition!

Hey again lovelies! As the sun has been showing itself a bit more lately, I've really been getting into the summer mood! I ordered these nail wheels on eBay (for about £2!) and I started designing a few different summery nails one afternoon. I really like this one I came up with - I mixed together six different layers of tonal blues - I think it give the effect of a nice tropical sea! And the best thing is it's not an exact design so you don't have to be neat - score! Just start with the darkest colour at the bottom of the nail and work your way to the lightest, you don't have to have loads of shades for it to work.

Turtle Bay

Hey guys! Today was my cousins 19th birthday so me, my mum, nan and auntie all took her out for a meal and a few cocktails! We went to Turtle Bay, a place specialising in Caribbean food. I have to say I'm not normally one for spicy food at all, I can barely eat chilli flavoured crisps but I really love this place!

This is what is called a 'light bite' in Turtle Bay, and it only cost £6.85! I went for The Jerk Pulled Pork Wrap with a side of Sweet Potato Fries and Caribbean 'slaw. Their sweet potato fries are the best thing I've ever tasted, I've tried to make them at home so many times but I just can't get them nice and crispy like they do!

Cocktail number 1 is something they call a Rum Runner - it consisted of rum (obviously!) raspberry and banana liquer, pineapple juice and grenadine. Perfect for those who like something a bit fruity!

The second was called a Marley Mojito (see what they did there?!) This one wasn't particularly my favourite but it again had rum, mint, orange juice and few other things I cant quite remember!
Finally I tried the Vanilla and Passion Fruit Mojito - this one was a lot nicer but Rum Runner is definitely still my favourite! To be honest I think what put me off the Mojito's was the mint because I'm not too fond of it and it was quite strong, but it was still a really nice drink - and did I mention all their cocktails are 2-4-1 before 7pm?! And then again after 10pm! Turtle Bay is definitely worth a try if you're around the Southampton area!

Mini Homeware Haul!

I don't know what it is recently but I have just been so into buying homeware. Me and Jack want to move out to live on our own and I think the thought is kind of just overtaking my mind at the moment, I go into every home section in shops when I'm walking through town! However although we are saving to move, it might be a while before we can actually do it so I have settled for buying a couple of things to spruce up our room a bit! Mine and Jacks room is mainly white however we have one wall wallpapered with a powder blue flower print, good thing it's both of our favourite colours!
Oil burner - Yankee Store
Heart Storage Boxes - Matalan
White Vintage Mirror - The Range
Bedding - TxMaxx
'Home' Pillow - Primark
Other Pillow - The Range

I've had this mirror for a while now but I finally feel happy with it! It's nice to actually enjoy spending time in your room :)

Nivea Sensitive Skincare

Hey lovelies! So a few weeks ago now I was browsing on the Superdrug website when I came across the new Nivea Skincare range for super sensitive skin. I've always loved Nivea products so I thought I would give a couple of the new products a go, seems as my skin can be pretty sensitive sometimes!

The first product I tried was the 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water. There have been so many of these going around at the moment but I just haven't had the chance to try one, so I thought I would pick this one up whilst it was in it's introductory offer. I really love it as you can tell from the nearly half used bottle! It makes my make up swipe off quickly and easily, I only have to use 2 cotton pads, one for skin and one for eyes ( I use a lot of eyeliner!). It's said to help with redness, dryness, and tightness that sensitive skin receives. I definitely have to agree with the dryness side, my skin has cleared up nicely and it's a lot more gentle than rubbing at your skin with a wipe!

The next product I tested was the sensitive day cream. I've never used a day cream before, but it was pretty much a moisturiser I guess. It's pretty nice and it smells nice as most Nivea products do, but I can't say I've noticed any difference on my skin since using it. However it is nice and cheap and it's good to moisturise in     the morning before putting on my make up!

Have you tried any of the Nivea Sensitive range?

Life Lately

Everything seems to be going so quickly. I've just finished my first year of uni. It seems so weird that I'm going to be off for the whole summer, I'd best start thinking of things to do! Me and Jack had a couple of days together over the Bank holiday, and he helped me out at uni to finish off one of my last shoots! I actually got to use my new camera for a couple of them which was great :) anyway here are a few photos I've taken recently so I thought I would share!

Testing out my camera the first day I got it - sorry for the crazy hair!

Checking out different depths of field with my cat Izzy!

I treated Jack to a Yates' breakfast after he got up really early to help me with a shoot,

and then we spent the afternoon re-stringing his guitar :) It took us a while to figure it out!

Here's a quick mock-up of some of the photos I took of Jack :) I'm a lucky girl.

Sorry if this post is a bit boring, this last week has been pretty hectic getting everything finished! And I've been pretty snap-happy now that I've got my new camera. But everything is done now and I'm ready to have an amazing summer! How has your week been?

Illamasqua Matte Primer

Hey lovelies! I'm back and I'm happier than ever now that I FINALLY have my new camera, so expect to see a lot better quality photos from now on! I finally decided on the Canon 1100D, but anyway, that's for another post once I've got used to it!
Today I wanted to show you this Illamasqua Primer that I've recently been using. Now, let me tell you that I am incredibly fussy when it comes to primers, I can never find one that I like. I failed to get used to Maybellines' Baby Skin Primer, and I'm not even a fan of Benefits Porefessional, so you know this primer is something special.

Firstly, I loved the packaging. I think it looks so smart, I love the plain-ness (Is that a word?!) When I first squeezed some of it onto the back of my hand I firstly thought it looked like PVA glue, but don't let that put you off! It's not sticky in consistency, in fact it glides on really smoothly and leaves a really nice base to apply my foundation to. As well as controlling shine, it also includes vitamin E which helps moisturise. The thing I liked about it is that it doesn't feel like I've got anything on like I tend to find with other primers. They made my skin feel oily and seemed to make my foundation slip around everywhere but I haven't found that with this primer! At £24 its not the cheapest you can get, but you really do only need the tiniest amount. I've been using this baby since September!
